From West to East through the Ramon Crater

Full day Jeep tour

This round trip is made to get acquainted with the Makhtesh (Crater) Ramon – the biggest crater of its type worldwide, located in the Negev Desert. We will start our trip at Ma’ale Ramon, the natural road to descend to the western part of the crater.
This is a very diffult path for jeeps, but from that site we will be able to see the remarkable Karnei Ramon – remnants of ancient basalt strata, witnesses of ancient volcanic activity.
We go further and drive along the crater up to the Ma’aleh Arud Heights, there we will leave the crater and arrive at the upper part of Wadi Nekarot. We will follow along the bed of the Wadi along the steep slopes of the Hamakhmal mountain crest.
After a longer road section, we will find ourselves back inside the crater and drive up to the Gewanim mountain, from which point we can see the whole crater. Driving down the Gevanim river, we will arrive at Han Saharonim and its water source.
We drive down Ma’ale Dekalim to Wadi Ardon and follow our route to Mitzpe Ramon along the Be’erot park and road No. 40.
